Edie, you must have the ONLY one that dies in daylight! Heh

I guess at least I'm not alone but...what good does it do for all of us to be up at 3am changing batteries? (Or taking a sledgehammer to the smoke detector?)

Our smoke detector has some kind of monitor on it and the monitor lets us know when the battery is getting low. We usually replace it once it starts to make the beeping noise letting alerting us.

We've only had one die during the day. We came home one day and the whole system was blaring. One had failed and since the whole system in connected, they were all going off. We have now replaced every single one of the them!

They are recommended for replacement every ten years.

Smoke detectors are designed by evil little grimlins. They find it quite amusing to wake humans in the middle of the night with the chirp chirp chirping of a smoke detector in dire need of a new battery. Makes you want to take a sledgehammer to the darn thing.

I have NEVER had one die off during the day. It is always in the middle of the night and I'm usually the one walking around in my jammies looking for the blasted thing.
