Posting on the run today…

* Today is the official release day of Burning Ambition!  YAY!  This is the 4th in my Texas Firefighters series, but if you haven’t read the others, it’s okay.  It’s stand-alone and doesn’t depend on any of the other stories in the series.  Burning Ambition is the story of Fire Captain Joe Mendoza and the Fire Chief’s daughter (and first female firefighter in the department) Faith Peligni.  Find a blurb and an excerpt here.

* So the title suggestions.  You guys rocked it and came up with some really good ideas!  My personal favorite of suggestions listed here was Operation: Mr. Right, by Jenn.  Love that!  Alas…every single last one that I turned in received the “no go” signal from the senior editor and they’re keeping the title they originally came up with.  Because of the List.  No, that’s the title, not the reason they….never mind.  Heee…  The title of my December book is Because of the List.  So there you have it.

But…I promised to give away a book for all your hard work.  The randomly selected winner is Tracy Zielke, comment #33.  I’m also going to send Jenn, comment #1, a book, because I liked your title most and would’ve loved to have that on my book.  So, Tracy and Jenn, please email me and let me know which book of mine you’d like me to send you, what name you’d like it signed to, and your postal address.

Another thank you to everyone who offered title suggestions!  SO much appreciated and you guys are good at that!  I sent the list to my editor this morning and hope to hear back umm soon.  As soon as I get the official word on the title, I’ll post it and the winner, whether it’s from a title suggestion or a random drawing.

My editor shared with me the title that the titling committee settled on for my December 2011 book and…I’m not loving it.  She asked my opinion of it and I went with honesty and told her so….she gave me until Monday morning to come up with something new.

Which is of course where my plea comes in.

I’m begging anyone and everyone for help brainstorming potential titles.  It’s a long shot that we’ll get it changed, but it’s definitely worth a try to me.

To motivate you, IF you’re the first to suggest a particular title and IF your title suggestion happens to be chosen by the fabulous Harlequin types, I’ll let you choose one signed book from my backlist (and I’ll throw in Burning Ambition, which hits shelves this Tuesday, as an option as well) and I’ll include your name in the acknowledgements of the December book.  (If no one’s title is selected, I’ll randomly pick one winner to choose a book from my backlist, so either way, someone’s getting a new book.)

So you probably need a little information on what the book is about.  It’s after midnight, I’ve been writing for about 14 hours today and I don’t have an official blurb yet.  (For that matter, the book isn’t done yet.  But…details.)  So forgive me if this isn’t the best-written but in two sentences:

My editor loved The Husband List, but it’s too close to another title coming out two months before mine.  Other titles currently on my list that haven’t yet been rejected are:

Yes, the list is short (it’s the second one I’ve made and as you can see, I’m running low low low on ideas.)

Don’t be shy, please throw out anything that comes to mind.  I don’t care how crazy or bad they are, you never know when an idea will spark another.  Did I mention PLEASE?  :)  I’ll be sending my editor a list before 8am Monday.  Thanks in advance to anyone who gives it a try!
